On Friday, May 23, 2025, Maejo University, through the Royal Initiative Thai Orchid Revival Project and the Faculty of Agricultural Production, in collaboration with the Thai Orchid Foundation, organized the 2025 Thai Orchid Revival Project. Dr. Watchara Tantranon, President of the Thai Orchid Foundation, presided over the ceremony. Associate Professor Dr. Puttisarn Khrueakham, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Production and Member and Secretary of the Thai Orchid Foundation, gave a report. Representatives from government agencies, the private sector, youth, and local residents attended the event at Wat Umong Suan Phuttadham Temple in Suthep Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province.
This event released four Thai orchid species: Dendrobium siamensis, Dendrobium siamensis, Dendrobium champaca, and Dendrobium siamensis, totaling 200 plants. The project aims to conserve endangered Thai orchid species, create a learning resource, and encourage community participation in the care and conservation of Thai orchids, a key natural resource that is an indicator of their abundance.
