Maejo University co-organizes a project with the Council of University Presidents of Thailand to fight against hazardous dust

On Saturday, April 20, 2019, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Weerapol Thongma, Acting President of Maejo University together with the administrators participated in the project named “Unite to Fight against Hazardous Dust” organized by Chiang Mai Province, Maejo University, and the Council of University Presidents of Thailand with an honor given from Mr. Khomson Suwanampa, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai Province who welcomed the participants. Prof. Dr. Samphan Rittidet, Secretary-General of the Office of the Higher Education Commission, presided over the ceremony, and Prof. Dr. Suchatwee, the Chair of the mentioned council gave a special lecture on “The Roles of Educational Institutions and the Northern Haze Crises”. Then facilities to prevent the hazardous dust and supporting money were distributed to various organizations to give to the people, forest fire staff, and disaster victims in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son, and Phayao to Gen. Jiradej Kamonphet, Deputy Commander of Region 3 who was the representative of the Director of Defense Center to solve forest fires and haze problems in the northern region, and to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Weerapol Thongma, Acting President of Maejo University as the representative of the universities in the North. The ceremony was held at Chiang Saen Meeting Room in Khum Kham International Convention Center. In the event, there were also academic talks, exhibitions, and innovations to solve the haze problems.
