On the last November 5, 2014, Agricultural Economics, Resources and Environment Program of the Faculty of Economics in Maejo University launched a project on Green Economy for All: The 3rd Economics for Community and Environment. It received an honor from the University President to preside over the opening ceremony in the morning, and a lecture was given by Mr. Pakorn Sri-Ruenthong (Deputy Managing Director of Central Human Resources Strategy of Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited: CPF) on “Green Economic Driving Strategy in Organizations: Business Sectors to Farmers.” In the afternoon, there was a group discussion on “Organic Agriculture to Sustainable Consumption” participated by Mr. Wichian Thala (Green, Beautiful and Sweet Chiang Mai Network), Mr. Apisak Kampen (Mae Tha Organic Group) and Mr. Athip Klantapurah (a supporter of farmers who grow garlics and onions from Mae Hongson Province) and moderated by Miss Pattaralada Chongsukklang. There were interested 162 participants from both inside and outside the university. The main purposes of the group discussion were to develop and transfer knowledge and understanding on agricultural economics, resources and good environment for community and society. The activities were performed under the philosophy of the faculty to educate its students to be good and smart graduates, and to take part in developing economy, society, resources and environment. The project also aimed to prepare readiness of the faculty towards Green Economy under the university strategy on moving forwards to Eco-University.
