The School of Renewable Energy of Maejo University in collaboration with the Department of Pollution Control, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment organized a seminar on “The first pilot project to reduce smog from burning agricultural waste materials in the upper northern region by processing them for electricity for the prototype community” on May 2-3, 2016, at Chiang Mai Grand View Hotel. It was honored by Mr. Paviana Chamniprasat, the governor of Chiang Mai Province, to preside over the opening ceremony, and to give a lecture on the smog situation and the solutions. Many people from many concerned organizations participated in the seminar, for example, Chiang Mai Energy Office, Chiang Mai Public Health Office, Chiang Mai Provincial Agriculture Office, and Chiang Mai Provincial Agriculture Office. Among them, there were 2 academics from Maejo University named Assistant Professor Theerapong Sawang-Panyaangkoon from the Faculty of Engineering and Agro-Industry and Dr. Chomchuan Boonrahong from the College of Management. At the site, there was an exhibition of energy processing technology and a study tour to visit private plants.
