The youth team of Maejo University-Chumphon received the award for the results of environmental activities of youth within the university (Green Youth) at the national level in 2019 organized by the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment from Mrs. Pavinee Na Saiburi, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, who presided over the award ceremony. Lecturer Dr. Virapon Tokiri, Advisor to the Dean of Student Development and Alumni Relations of Maejo University–Chumphon with student representatives received the award on Monday of December 14, 2020, at TK Palace Hotel in Bangkok.
The Department of Environmental Quality Promotion has implemented the 2019 Green Youth Environmental Activities Project to educate students to have knowledge and understanding for the implementation of Green Youth activities into concrete practice to make the university step into being a green university (Green University) with full pride. The department considered and followed up the performance of “The Tourism Association of Social Service Team of Maejo University-Chumphon University” and passed its assessment at the gold level. Maejo University is 1 of 8 universities nationwide that passed the evaluation criteria out of totaling 43 universities. Maejo University conducted activities under the project named “A Development of Food Security and Food Safety Areas within Maejo-Chumphon University.”
As for the award received this time, it is an important award to help build morale for the students and staff who cared about the environment and it showed that even if it was only a small gear, it can be plugged into clear concrete evidence responding to the university policy in stepping into Green University. It can also meet the national policy for food security. Later on, the team will extend its performance to be an important policy of Maejo University-Chumphon to create wider and clearer participation in the organization.
