On Tuesday, May 12, 2020, Associate Professor Dr. Weeraphon Thongma, President of Maejo University, and university administrators jointly “planted the first plant on the first plowing day to plant vegetables for tuition fees for the third time.” On this occasion, it was considered a good time for agriculture sectors after the auspicious Plowing Day to strengthen the morale and encouragement of students in the vegetable planting project for tuition fees. It also a good time to remember the importance of farmers doing to the Thai economy. One day after the royal Plowing Day is set as a starting day for vegetable plantation in exchange for tuition fees for the students. The planting started at the Maejo University Farm (the 907-rai Farm).
The Vegetable Planting Project for Tuition Fees is a strategic project of Maejo University. It mainly aims to make graduates be good practitioners in the production of vegetables, fruits, eggs, meat, fish, etc. by learning from doing things outside of the classroom and also to make them have some income to help alleviate the burden of their parents. At the same time, The Faculty of Agricultural Production and Maejo University Farm want to integrate teaching and learning to make their graduates have skills, knowledge, and ability to be entrepreneurs for society to meet the needs of the market. This project has been operated for 3 years.
